5 Crafts 'Til Christmas - Frozen Wreaths

This time, 5 Crafts 'Til Christmas has taken on a new twist.
Our original plan was...you do it at your house, I'll do it at mine...then I'll blog about it so our kids can see each other in action.
Together...but apart...250 km apart.

But this time, we're not apart!!
Yipee!!
We've arrived 'home' for Christmas!
This time, the cousins are crafting TOGETHER...not apart!
L.O.V.E. it!

Steph and I enjoyed rummaging through the projects linked up to Saturday Soiree #31 at a little lovely.
We were especially drawn to these Ice Candles, linked up by Elizabeth and Co.
So festive!
So beautiful!

Keep in mind, ours were created by 4 to 10 year olds!
A thoughtful gift for their Baba!

Here's what we used...
- 8 plastic containers
- frozen cranberries {that appeared freakishly large!}
- Poinsettia leaves
- orange slices
- water
- heavy items {to hold the inner container down}
- candles {for later}
 The little ones
{who are clearly in desperate need of tubbies - we're on holidays, cut us some slack!!}
created two of their own.

And the bigger ones set to work on their own.

Ready for the 'freezer'.

Since it's -20ish (degrees Celsius) 'round these parts and Steph's freezer is full of yummy baking, we put our candle wreaths on the deck...they'll be frozen in no time!

Now we wait 'til they're frozen.
...tick...tock...tick...
We left them out overnight...
.....................................................................................................................................
Steph and I hosted dinner at her house tonight, we made soup and scones.
Soup that I'll write about in the new year.

We decided to set up a little display on the front porch with Baba's special gift front and centre.
We thought it was beautiful!

Unfortunately, the bone-chilling wind extinguished the candles before Baba arrived...so she didn't notice the little beauties waiting for her by the front door!
Oh well...we'll deliver them to her porch on Christmas Eve!
Perhaps we'll add a little greenery and ribbon before we deliver!

~Merry Christmas~

  1. Oh, your ice candles turned out great! And I love that you got the kids involved. It's such fun to do projects together. And you are creating wonderful memories and traditions! I'm so glad that my candles inspired you, then you made them your own. I've been experimenting with different sizes, shapes and ingredients too. ... Wishing you a warm and wonderful holiday!

  2. These are awesome and so easy. I like the fact each child can craft their wreath with unique items. Well done!

    What was Baba's reactions when she did see them?
